G&D is an independent civil engineering and construction services consulting firm based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Originally founded in Denver, North Carolina in 2003 as Gavel Engineering, P.A., the firm reorganized as Gavel & Dorn Engineering, PLLC on January 1, 2008.

G&D implements a business model that is unique in the technical consulting business. G&D utilizes a combination of full-time staff and one part-time contract employees coupled with a confederation of top-notch freelance technical talent. G&D has found that this approach best manages overhead costs and provides the ability to customize project teams to a given project's needs.

In addition to individual freelance specialists, the firm also has established partnering relationships with other specialty firms that provide complementary services. The combination of full time and part time staff and partnering arrangements with other firms enables G&D to provide responsive, cost effective service on a wide variety of projects from small to large.
