Gavel & Dorn Engineering, PLLC (G&D) is an independent civil engineering and construction services consulting firm based in Charlotte, North Carolina. G&D operates out of its headquarters office on Freedom Drive in Charlotte (near I-485) and a satellite office in Greenville, South Carolina.

The firm was originally founded in 2003 as Gavel Engineering, P.A., by Kirk Gavel, and the firm operated out of the office over his garage at his home in Denver, North Carolina . The firm grew rapidly, and reorganized as Gavel & Dorn Engineering, PLLC on January 1, 2008, with Jason Dorn, P.E., Ph.D. bringing his considerable expertise in water resources engineering into the service line, which until that time had been centered primarily on construction services.

The net result is that the company has grown more than ten-fold since its inception in terms of personnel and sales. Some of the highest levels of growth have occurred over the last few years, during the depths of one of the worst recessions in our nation's history. G&D has achieved this growth in a period of budget austerity due to our commitment to providing the highest level of service to our clients while minimizing overall program costs.
