Dave Marler
Senior Construction Inspector
Mr. Marler is senior field construction inspector with Gavel & Dorn Engineering. He recently
served as resident inspector on multiple pipeline projects for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilties (CMU).
His responsibilities on these projects included:
* Keeping track of quantities of work performed, as the contractor is paid on the basis of a unit cost contract;
* Observing the quality of the work to determine compliance with project specifications;
* Monitoring the overall progress of the project for compliance with the work schedule;
* Tracking subcontractors used on the project to ensure compliance with the project’s Small
Business Enterprise (SBE) requirements;
* Interacting with local business operations and residents to address complaints and other questions and concerns;
* Maintaining ongoing communications with CDOT so that work does not conflict with right of way use permits and the noise ordinance;
In addition to inspection experience, Mr. Marler has experience as an equipment operator
and laborer, installing water and sewer lines, and performing grading work. Mr. Marler has
also worked for 14 years as an aircraft inspector for US Airways.
